Judging Process

The judging panel will be established and managed by the Scottish Civic Trust and will include Scottish Civic Trust representatives.  Panel members will have a knowledge of and interest in Scotland's buildings, places and spaces, and will be appointed by the Scottish Civic Trust.

The panel chairman will be nominated by the Scottish Civic Trust. The judges' decision will be final. Judges will be looking for excellence in terms of:

My Place Award
Quality
Appropriateness
Innovation
Sustainability
Community Involvement
Sympathetic to local historic built environment
Design - appropriate features in keeping with the use of the building
Inclusivity of design - a safe environment, convenient, enjoyable to use
Awareness of importance of place making
Originality
Creativity


Civic Champion Award
Contribution to preserving and/or promoting local historic built environment
Community participation and engagement
Promoting pride of place


Nominees will be assessed on the information submitted.  The ultimate winner will demonstrate a passion for the built environment and an exceptional commitment to their local group or community council.

Award winners will be announced at a special ceremony in March 2012.
