Looking through archives the following comment
about the future of architecture in Scotland has a resonance
for the Scottish Civic Trust's My Place Awards initative.
" .... But the true measure of the effectiveness of the
planning system is what it actually delivers on the ground.
Scotland has many fine towns, villages and neighbourhoods and
these are protected through national and, in some cases,
international designations. But I am far from convinced that the
areas which have recently been developed will justify special
measures for their conservation and enhancement.
In my travels throughout Scotland, I do not see the
conservation areas of tomorrow."
Sam Galbraith, Former Minister for Environment, Sport &
